Arctic Man on Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Ballot

Arctic Man is, in our opinion, one of the most raw and radical Ski Racing Events ever hatched.  An extreme combination of gravity and motor sport at speeds well in excess of 80 miles per hour.  A skier starts at the first peak, when they reach the bottom they grab a rope attached to a snogo already in motion which drags the athlete to the next peak and literally slingshots them over the crest of the next run and finishing At the base of the second descent. Gelandesprung

Photo credit Mark Ruckman Gelandesprung translates from German to English as "Terrain Jump".  We've learned that traditionally it is a long distance ski jump off a natural feature but has been more commonly jumping off a Nordic Ski Jump with an Alpine configured ski.....usually as long as you can find usually a 230 or DH board. El Niño Predictions

Posted by Patrick Holland on

We're all very excited for El Niño ...... At least we think we are?  Everyone seems psyched for it, which is cool, but what does it mean for us? This morning we decided to do some research hoping to understand how high we should actually get our hopes.  The conclusion is that no one really has any idea. El Niño is characterized by a "different" weather pattern than normal due to water temps at the equator.  We waded through articles and Q&A by a handful of our favorite meteorologists and snow predictors only to discover that no one really has...
